Root Canal Treatment in Dulwich Hill
Our team provides you with an array of solutions to suit your every need. At Wardell Dental Clinic, our experienced dentists will make sure that you are comfortable through any procedure with us. A root canal treatment is no exception.
This solution can save you from having to resort to extracting a tooth. Instead, we can clean out the affected area and restore the tooth with a dental crown. The tooth will have the function and appearance of a natural tooth with greater stability and strength.
Why Get a Root Canal?
There are a few situations in which a root canal can be necessary:
- A hole, crack or chip in a tooth
- Discoloured tooth
- Long-lasting tooth sensitivity
- Toothache
- Swelling in the face and neck
- Swelling and tenderness in the gums
- An abscess or a lesion on the gums
The Process of a Root Canal
You’ll want to know what you can expect during root canal treatment. At Wardell Dental Clinic, we’ll take every step to make sure that you feel confident and ready to proceed. Two visits are necessary. First, X-rays are taken to determine where the infection is and the best way to start the procedure. A local anaesthetic is given so that you won’t feel any discomfort.
The area of infection is cleaned out. Once complete, it can be filled with biocompatible materials. A strong cement seals off the area. To finish your procedure, you’ll return for a follow-up visit. That’s when we’ll place a crown on the tooth that had a root canal.
Single-Use Instruments for Your Safety
We use the RECIPROC system for our root canals. The instrument used covers what several instruments are normally required to do. They are pre-sterilised and used just once. In turn, your procedure is kept efficient and there is an eliminated risk of contamination.
